1 Kernel 2.6.38, Kernel 3.0.0

The changes mentioned for those Kernels don't work at the moment, there's more that needs to be done. Building of sasc-ng and the dvbloopback module works, but i'm getting nasty post-mortem-messages in my kernellog. Hope to finish that soon, so i can go on with my own HTPC project ;-)

-- comment by rockard on 2011-10-28: Hi, I'm very thankful for your wiki, it has helped me many times. I'm wondering if you ever did manage to get things running on a 2.6.38+ kernel. You say you managed to build the module, which is more than I did. I'm still getting the compile errors. Feel free to remove this comment if you wish, it's just I'm desperate, and this was the only way I could think of to contact you. Thanks for everything!

-- comment by carsten on 2011-11-05 Hi, i use the wiki like rockard to inform you about a special change in the source ;-), in the current version there is no statement für using "linux/videodev.h" in the dvbdevice.cpp. So your discription of a change in step 3.2.1 in case of "Kernel 2.6.38 and above" in your tutorial is no longer possible. Thanks for the discription!!!

2 Frequent segmentation faults

I've been seeing frequent segmentation faults. Specifically, cases when the ECM handler list loop produces a pointer with value 0x125 and similar. I have been able to trace these events to plugin_ffdecsa.c - it appears that maybe I am getting TS packets of strange size, causing plugin_ffdecsa.c to overflow one of its buffers. I am working on a fix to that.

After much effort, it seems that the latest version simply doesn't work for NDS in many places...

After reading http://www.tbsdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1149&start=10, I used the command:

hg update -r 570 -C

This returned me to revision 570,  Suddenly almost all problems disappeared. Someone who wants to do the clone directly to this revision would do:

hg clone -r 570 http://85.17.209.13:6100/sc

3 Suggested upstart config file for sasc-ng

I have recently stabilized my sasc-ng setup. Part of the work included creating upstart config files for Ubuntu. It may be useful as a replacement for runsasc, but please remember that I've only been using it for a couple of weeks.

To download, use: http://pastebin.com/cdVRaJ7c

Make sure you read it thoroughly and change to suit your system.

4 new method to install sasc-ng with Ubuntu 11.10

Sorry for my broken english, i'm an Italian user.... I posted a guide in the Italian forum of a guide on how to install ubuntu SASC-ng without compiling the kernel, but using the media git-v4l/dvb driver. Try it and let me know!! http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/index.php/topic,460152.0.html

Hi Nede, I tried your new method and it works! Finally I can drop old 2.6.38 kernel because this is first time I got sasc-ng to work with v3 kernels. Thank you for contributing!
